If so, we are offering you the option to try TEFL before you commit with a weekend Taster Course in Barnstaple, Devon, designed to give you a real taste of the ELT world and the knowledge and skills required to become an effective ELT practitioner. We offer a variety of input sessions including language development, teaching planning and practice and a plethora of ways to be creative within the teaching environment.

Practice activities/ why we use them and some ideas for the classroom.
17.30 - 18.30 Free Practice:
Using role play and other activities to bring your lessons to life.
18.30 – 19.15 Teaching Skills:
How to teach reading & listening in the classroom.
19.15 – 20.00 Needs analysis & understanding levels:
Assessing new students and understanding different levels of students.
9.00-10.30 Lesson planning, preparation and classroom management
How to plan a TEFL lesson & giving your first lesson teaching English overseas
10.45- 12.45 Planning your practice lessons.
14.45-16.45 Teaching practice
17.00- 17.45 Correcting errors:
How and when to correct in the classroom.
17.45 – 18.30 Grammar again! More tricky bits!
18.30 – 19.15 Making English fun – using music and the environment.
19.15 – 20.00 Concluding session
